Yale Club of Hartford's “Day of Service @ Thanksgiving”
‘Tis the season! And we have much for which to be thankful. In this season of gratitude and festiveness, however, there are some among us - in our own community - who are in need.
As the Yale Club of Hartford considers additional ways to better engage with the Greater Hartford community where we live, eat, sleep, work and/or play, what better way to build community than by volunteering to help our neighbors.
On Thanksgiving morning, Thursday, November 28, 2019, from 9:00 a.m.– 12:00 p.m., we are seeking a cadre of YCH volunteers* to join members of the Phillips Metropolitan C.M.E. Church located at 2500 Main Street, Hartford, CT 06120. We will package and coordinate the delivery of 450 Thanksgiving meals to those in need, the elderly, and first responders on-duty throughout the city of Hartford. The activity will be finished and cleaned up by Noon, in time for everyone to join their families for dinner and football.
There are multiple Yale connections with this event, as the newly named pastor of Phillips Metropolitan CME Church is Yale Divinity School alumnus Rev. Jeremy L. Williams, M. Div., Lead Pastor; and church member Angela Harris is also an alumna of Yale College.
