Our History

Founded in 1885 and incorporated in 1952, the Yale Club and Scholarship Foundation of Hartford, Inc., also known simply as the Yale Club of Hartford or “YCH,” is the tenth oldest Yale club in the nation. We are a vibrant club, serving over 2,000 Yale alumni in our region, which stretches across Northern Connecticut. We serve alumni Yale College and Yale graduate and professional schools, as well as spouses of Yale alumni.

Our main goals are to:

  • Facilitate alumni networking through diverse events.

  • Facilitate the admission of deserving young men and women from greater Hartford to Yale College.

  • Acknowledge and reward outstanding young members of our community.

Throughout the year, we bring together YCH members and friends to learn, network, forge new friendships—and have fun! Activities abound. Please visit our Events page for the current calendar.

We assist in the Yale College admissions process by interviewing local applicants. Our Alumni Schools Committee leads this effort. Volunteer interviewers have the opportunity to share their personal stories and insights about Yale with applicants, answer questions about Yale, and cultivate future generations of Yale alumni.

Finally, on the Student Support page, you will see the many ways in which we assist local Yale College undergraduates and also recognize high-achieving high school students from greater Hartford. Our support includes scholarships, summer internships, and recognition awards.

We encourage you to join our dynamic group! You can join by visiting the Join or Renew Now page. Want to volunteer? We welcome your involvement! See the Contribute page, where you will find Club activities with immediate volunteer needs.

We look forward to your participation!
