Yale Volleyball Coach Erin Appleman and
Yale Football Coach Tony Reno
Presentation of the C. Gilbert Shepard Award to
Yale Sophomore Giovanna Dionicio
Come join us as the Yale Club of Hartford presents its traditional Bob Haller Memorial Sports Night online with three guest speakers. Yale Athletic Director Vicky Chun will be our keynote speaker. Chun was appointed by President Salovey in 2018 and is the first woman and first Asian American to serve as Athletic Director at Yale. A former student-athlete and Division I Coach, Chun is relentless in her belief that a winning athletic program must produce measurable results both on and off the field.
Yale Volleyball Coach Erin Appleman will also join us and discuss some of the secrets of her legendary success. Coach Appleman has guided the Bulldogs to three straight Ivy League titles and 10 championships overall, including a record-setting five straight titles from 2010-2014.
Yale Football Coach Tony Reno will review the 2019 season and provide an outlook of the upcoming fall 2021 season. Coach Reno's 2017 team defied all predictions with the school’s first outright league title in 37 years. He followed it up in 2019 with an Ivy League title-clinching victory in one of the greatest playings of The Game ever, a comeback 50-43 double overtime victory.
The Yale Club of Hartford will also present the C. Gilbert Shepard Award to Yale Sophomore and Varsity Soccer player Giovanna Dionicio who hails from West Hartford and attended Hall High School.
Suggested donation is $15 per attendee to support our Club's many worthy activities, including summer internships for Yale undergraduates in the Hartford area and volunteer activities to serve our community. Please also consider an additional contribution to sponsor this event.
