Connecticut Invention Convention (CIC) Finals Judging 2019

  • University of Connecticut - Gampel Pavilion 2098 Hillside Road Mansfield, CT, 06269 United States (map)

The Yale Club of Hartford is pleased to announce it is a Corporate Sponsor of the 2019 Connecticut Invention Convention

Connecticut Invention Convention (CIC) has young inventors that need our help!

Inviting Yale Club of Hartford members to serve as judges at the 2019 CIC on the UCONN Storrs Campus, May 4, 2019.

The Connecticut Invention Convention (CIC) is an award winning, non-profit educational organization open to students in all schools across Connecticut.  The program is designed to develop, encourage, and enhance critical thinking and creative problem solving skills through invention, innovation, and entrepreneurship.  Students come up with inventions and present their work at CIC Regional and Final events.  See details on the CIC at: www.ctinventionconvention.org/about-us

In order to make this a successful year for young inventors, CIC need judges from every background and career path. CIC needs judges to speak with students, offer feedback, score inventions, and help decide which inventors will advance to the national competition.  No experience is necessary, since everyone receives training on the day of the event.

Last year there were two stages of competition, regional and finals; however, this year there will be finals only judging.  The competition at UCONN will be larger and more important.  CIC will need many more judges to support student inventors!  The Yale Club of Hartford CIC Team is supporting the CIC finals on Saturday May 4, 2019 at UCONN.  The event will start in the morning and run into mid-afternoon (see link above for schedule).

The Yale Club of Hartford had a great group in 2018 and we’re hoping to attract new members to join our team of judges.  We will be awarding three awards: elementary, middle, and high school.  We have also secured a 2019 summer internship at CIC for a current Yale freshman, a former CIC inventor!

Registration is easy!  https://www.cicregistration.org/judges/

Once registered, please send me, Katherine McCormack, an email (kmccor4040@aol.com) to let her know.  She will put you on the list of our Yale Club of Hartford CIC Team.  Eric Fleischmann and Freddy Sowah are co-chairs of this event.  Katherine has listed the CIC judging as a Yale Day of Service event, so be sure to register for the Storrs May 4 event.
