Enjoy the beautiful weather by planting daffodils and cleaning up neighborhoods
The City of Hartford’s Community Hope Gardens Initiative is designed to commemorate Hartford residents who have passed away due to COVID-19. These gardens will be composed of yellow daffodils that will be planted at gateway locations around the entire city this fall. Plantings began in Hartford’s South End two weeks ago, and they will continue each weekend for the next few weeks. The City’s goal is to plant over 5,000 daffodils in 30 locations in order to ensure beautiful blooming in the spring.
The City is seeking volunteers to help with planting daffodil bulbs tomorrow, Saturday, November 7, 2020. Check in starts at 8:30am with the project running from 9am – 12pm. The initial meeting point and parking will be at Parker Memorial Community Center (PMCC), 2621 Main Street, Hartford. This meeting point is the same as our Club’s Yale Day of Service in May 2019. There will be two planting locations – PMCC and further south on Main Street near Sands Elementary School. There will be plenty of opportunity to support these projects regardless of your level of gardening skills!

Tools and PPE equipment including gloves and masks will be provided, and physical distancing will be practiced during these outdoor activities. Volunteers will meet at Parker Memorial Community Center (PMCC), 2621 Main Street, Hartford.
